Welcome to the summer season here at TPG!

We have many wonderful activities planned. Attached is the “Summer Event Schedule” which details the dates for our family picnics, special school events, field trips, and music classes. Please mark them on your calendars. Additionally, please note that school will be open through August 20th this year. We will be closed, however, on July 5th in observance of Independence Day.

In July and August, we will be using our wading pools and sprinklers at times in the yard. Please be sure you have signed the permission line on the Emergency Contact form so that your child will be able to join us in this activity. We will also continue going to local parks throughout the summer.

For your child’s protection you may want to put waterproof sunblock on him/her before coming to school. We do not apply sunblock. Also, a hat will help protect your child further. It is very important that the children wear shoes or sandals that will stay on their feet well and be comfortable for walking and playing outside. Please do not send children to school with aqua socks, plastic shoes, crocs, clogs, jellies, flip-flops, etc. When it is too hot and humid, we will stay indoors enjoying art, music, reading, games, and many other activities.

Please make sure that your child has the following supplies in his/her cubby:
• A complete change of summer clothing
• A sheet and lightweight blanket if your child stays for nap, all bedding must fit in the cubbies (no sleeping bags)
• A towel and bathing suit – for wading pools and sprinklers (swimmies or little swimmers if your child is not potty trained)
Please take home all bedding, towels, and bathing suits to launder on the weekends. Also, please label all clothing and towels!

Important Note Regarding Transitions:
While summer is typically the time for move ups and new starts, this summer our landlord Trinity Memorial Church is undertaking an exciting and much needed kitchen renovation on the first floor. Due to this construction, the Toddler class will likely spend all of August sharing the upstairs with the Intermediates and PreKs. Our numbers will be lower in the summer so we expect this accommodation to go well. Nevertheless, due to the temporary loss of one classroom and some overall disruption in the space, we will not be doing any class transitions or taking in any new students until September. To prepare for the September transitions, children will be visiting their prospective classrooms over the summer to help them get acquainted, but all transitions will occur when school reopens in September. We will provide you with more details about this project and our operation plans while the construction is underway in the weeks to come after meeting with the project coordinator and contractors.

Please feel free to stop by my desk if there is anything you’d like to discuss. I am generally here from 8:30-5:00. The best times to call me are between 1:00 and 5:00 or please feel free to email anytime info@trinityplaygroup.org.

Looking forward to a fun summer together.
